Sufjan Stevens: For The Widows In Paradise, For The Fatherless In Ypsilanti
“For The Widows” has all the makings of a great indie folk song; the banjo, Sufjans’ clearly sincere singing, female backup vocals sung wonderfully by Elin Smith, a nicely placed trumpet in the chorus, and lyrics caused by heartache. This song goes great with any other indie rock song or simply by itself. As for the album Greetings From Michigan, it wasn’t my favorite Sufjan album, but it does have its moments. Really there isn’t much this man can do wrong.
